A New Cadre of Certified Presidential Youth Fitness Program Trainers

Washington, DC, Sept 1, 2017 – This summer, the National Fitness Foundation successfully trained a cadre of 62 physical education leaders across the country to be certified Presidential Youth Fitness Program trainers. The three regional trainings, held in Atlanta, Seattle and Boston, were developed in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Health Resources in Action. The trainers, representing 33 states, are now able to offer free, in-person, professional development for physical educators within their state. The interactive trainings address alignment of the Presidential Youth Fitness Program with national, state and local PE standards and provide strategies for effective program implementation and use of fitness assessment data.

“Our sixty-two trainers are true leaders in their field,” said Presidential Youth Fitness Program Director, Jane Wargo. “They are passionate about their capacity, through the Foundation’s support, to help physical educators provide a fitness education process capable of transforming student’s lives.”
