Presidential Fitness Test Reinstated
[August 1, 2025] — The National Fitness Foundation (NFF) proudly supports the Executive Order issued on July 31, 2025, by President Trump announcing the reinstatement of the Presidential Fitness Test. This initiative is central to a renewed national commitment to health and well-being.
As our nation prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary in 2026, this Executive Order responds to an urgent health crisis by placing a renewed emphasis on physical fitness, youth sports participation, and civic strength. It prioritizes action against the growing threats of obesity, chronic disease, and inactivity, especially among children, and recognizes their impact on America’s economy, military readiness, academic performance, and national morale.
Highlights of the Executive Order Include:
Reestablishing the Presidential Fitness Test as the nation’s premier youth fitness assessment and pathway to Presidential Fitness Awards.
Revitalizing the President’s Council, empowering up to 30 members to advise the President and advance nationwide strategies in health, fitness, and nutrition.
Expanding school-based fitness programs, Presidential challenges, and community initiatives that reward excellence in physical education.
Fostering public-private partnerships with athletes, teams, health institutions, and community groups to inspire Americans of all ages.
Elevating military readiness and addressing national security concerns linked to chronic disease and youth inactivity.
As America stands on the global stage, the next three years will be filled with historic inspiration. The United States is set to host the Ryder Cup, President’s Cup, FIFA World Cup, and the Olympic Games, the world’s premiere sporting competitions. These events will provide fitness aspirations for all generations of Americans and showcase the continuation of America’s global dominance in sports.
The National Fitness Foundation, as the official nonprofit partner to the President’s Council, is committed to advancing these goals through national outreach, youth engagement, and robust support for physical activity and nutrition programs in schools and communities across the country.
